My participation in the discussion organized by Nawi Collective in Kampala, Uganda 🇺🇬 provided a valuable platform to address the challenges women face in the gig economy, particularly in content moderation, and the associated mental health struggles.

From protection against addictive algorithms to safeguarding against sexual harassment and abuse, ensuring digital rights for women is essential for a more inclusive and equitable digital landscape. Additionally, addressing the accessibility gap and the negative impacts of social media on mental health, especially among young girls, underscores the urgency of promoting and safeguarding women rights in the digital age.

Creating safe spaces for such conversations is crucial for raising awareness, fostering support networks, and exploring solutions for the well-being and empowerment of women in these roles. It’s commendable that Nawi is actively engaging in these digital rights discussions and advocating for positive change in the gig economy.
